Steps
- Open Menu → Settings → Permissions.
- For Camera, tap Open Settings, then choose While using the app in Android’s prompt.
- For Contacts, tap Open Settings, then Allow. Contact access is optional if you dial numbers manually.
- For Microphone, tap Open Settings, then While using the app.
- Scroll to Notifications, tap Open Settings, then Allow.
- Check that each permission you granted now shows Allowed.
If Android has stopped offering a prompt after repeated denials, change the permission in the phone’s app settings. Permission wording varies by Android version and manufacturer. Granting permissions does not itself register a SIP account or configure background push calling.

Let’s check the permissions SessionTalk needs for calls, contacts and alerts.
Open the menu, then Settings and Permissions. You can see which permissions are already allowed.
If you’ll be making video calls, find Camera and tap Open Settings. Android will ask for camera access.
Choose While using the app. When you return to SessionTalk, Camera shows Allowed.
To see people saved on your phone, find Contacts and tap Open Settings.
Choose Allow. If you’d rather keep contact access off, you can still dial numbers yourself.
You’ll also need microphone access so people can hear you. Tap Open Settings under Microphone.
Choose While using the app again, then scroll down to Notifications.
These let SessionTalk show call and message alerts. Tap Open Settings to allow them.
Choose Allow and check the updated status. The permissions we need now show Allowed. These are Android prompts; the wording and options are different on an iPhone.
