Voicemail and Call Recording
SessionPBX supports personal mailboxes for members and shared voicemail for ring groups and queues. Call recording is separately controlled per member and is off by default.
Enable personal voicemail
- Open Team Members.
- Edit the member.
- Under Access & features, turn Voicemail on.
- Select Save member.
A call flow’s Voicemail step can now select that member’s extension as its mailbox. Direct unanswered-call behaviour depends on the route that sent the call to the member.
Configure shared team voicemail
Ring groups and queues can send unanswered calls to a shared mailbox:
- Edit the ring group or queue under Call Routing.
- Choose voicemail as the no-answer or overflow destination.
- Enter a monitored Team voicemail email address.
- Save and test the destination.
Authorised members see shared messages in their web workspace. A shared message belongs to the group or queue rather than to one individual.
Listen to voicemail
Members open Voicemail in their team web workspace. They can:
- Search by caller name or number
- Filter personal and shared messages
- Play, pause and seek
- Change playback speed
- Download a message
- Delete permitted messages
Playing a new message marks it as heard. Deleting a ring-group or queue message removes that shared item for all members with access.
Enable call recording
Recording controls are set per member:
- Open Team Members and edit the member.
- Turn on Call recording.
- To record every eligible call automatically, also turn on Record all calls.
- Save the member.
Record all calls is ignored when Call recording is off. For selective live-call recording, use only controls made available to authorised members or supervisors by your current plan and app version.
Access recordings
Recorded calls show a play control in the relevant call log. Select it to open the inline player. A download action is available to users whose role and call access permit it.
Recordings are attached to the call record. If an expected recording is absent, verify that recording was enabled before the call started and that the call connected successfully.
Recording policy and privacy
Technical access does not by itself make recording lawful. Before enabling recording:
- Identify the lawful basis and consent or notification rules in every relevant jurisdiction.
- Decide which inbound, outbound and internal calls may be recorded.
- Restrict playback and download access.
- Define retention and deletion periods.
- Protect exported files as confidential data.
- Review the policy with your legal or compliance adviser.
