Do Not Disturb (DND)

Availability: These instructions describe the new call-handling controls, currently in testing. They may not appear in your installed Android or iPhone app. Availability depends on your app version and provider.

Do Not Disturb rejects incoming calls on this device. It leaves established calls and outgoing calls available. DND takes priority over Auto Answer.

Turn DND on or off

  1. Open Menu > Settings > Preferences > Do Not Disturb.
  2. Turn Do Not Disturb on.
  3. Choose Until turned off, 30 minutes, 1 hour, or Until… to select a future date and time.
  4. Tap the checkmark to save.

To end temporary DND early, return to this screen, turn the switch off, and save.

Scheduled rules work independently of this switch. Turning the switch off, or reaching the end of a temporary duration, does not disable your scheduled rules. To stop all personal DND, also disable or delete the enabled rules and save.

Create a scheduled rule

  1. On the DND screen, tap Add rule.
  2. Enter an optional name, such as Weeknights.
  3. Select the days. Selected days have a checkmark.
  4. Leave All day on, or turn it off and set Start time and End time.
  5. Choose who the rule should apply to.
  6. Save the rule with the checkmark, then save the main DND screen too.
Apply toCalls affected
All callersEvery incoming caller during the rule’s days and times.
Unknown callersCallers not recognised in app contacts or in device contacts the app is allowed to access.
Selected numbersOnly the caller numbers or SIP usernames entered in the rule. Enter one per line and include the country code when it appears in caller ID.

An end time earlier than the start time continues into the next day. For example, Monday, 22:00–08:00 covers Monday night through Tuesday morning. Schedules use the device’s local time, including daylight saving changes. Any matching enabled rule can reject the call.

Use the switch beside a saved rule to enable or disable it. Tap the rule to edit it, or use its delete button to remove it. Save the DND screen after making changes.

How DND differs from silent mode

The app’s DND setting rejects calls; Alerts and sounds only controls audible alerts. Android or iPhone system DND and notification permissions are separate settings. See Sounds and notifications.

This is a setting for this app on this device. It does not set PBX-wide DND or stop another phone registered to the same account from ringing. Your provider determines what happens to a rejected call, such as whether it goes to voicemail.

For SessionCloud accounts, provider policy may restrict personal DND changes. Device-wide DND applies only where your administrator allows it. The provider provisioning reference describes the planned managed controls and their availability.

If a call still rings

Check that you saved both the rule and the main DND screen, that the rule is enabled, and that its days, times and caller selection match the call. Check the device’s time zone and any provider restrictions. For general incoming-call setup, see Handling incoming calls.
