SignalWire

SignalWire connects to SessionPBX as a SIP trunk. SessionPBX can read your SignalWire space to fill in your phone numbers.

Before you start

Note your Space URL, shown at the top of the SignalWire dashboard, in the form yourspace.signalwire.com.

From the API tab of your space, note the Project ID and an API token.

The API token grants full access to the project. SignalWire has no scoped-key equivalent, so SessionPBX uses it for the account lookup only and never stores it.

Connect your SignalWire account

  1. Open the SessionPBX project and select Call Routing.
  2. On SIP trunks, select Add trunk.
  3. Name the trunk, then choose SignalWire as the Provider.
  4. Enter the Space URL, Project ID and API token, then select Connect account.

SessionPBX lists your phone numbers and suggests a SIP host derived from your space, in the form yourspace.sip.signalwire.com.

That host comes from SignalWire’s documented naming convention rather than from the API, so it is labelled for confirmation. Check it against your space before relying on it.

Complete the trunk

  • Connection — confirm the suggested Host. Port 5060 and UDP are filled in.
  • Authentication — enter the SIP credentials from your space. Use By our IP address only if you have configured SignalWire that way.
  • Inbound — your numbers are listed if you connected the account.
  • Outbound — set Caller ID to a number on this SignalWire project.

Select Create trunk.

Finish in SignalWire

Add your SessionPBX region’s service address to the SIP settings for your space, so inbound calls reach it, and route your numbers to that trunk.

Test

  1. Call one of your SignalWire numbers from an outside phone and confirm the right extensions ring.
  2. Enable Outbound PSTN for one member, call a public number, and confirm two-way audio and the caller ID you set.
