Install and Provision Apps
Team members normally provision the SessionCloud Softphone from their invitation email. They do not need to enter a SIP server, SIP username or authentication realm.
Supported apps
- SessionCloud Softphone for iPhone and iPad
- SessionCloud Softphone for Android
- SessionCloud Softphone for Windows
- SessionCloud Softphone for macOS
Provision a mobile device
- Install SessionCloud Softphone from the App Store or Google Play.
- Open the team invitation email on another screen.
- In the app, choose the option to scan a provisioning QR code.
- Scan the QR code in the invitation.
- Allow microphone and notification permissions when prompted.
- Confirm that the member’s name and extension appear in the app.
The QR code is single-use and expires after three days. If it has expired, sign in with the email address and provisioning password from the invitation, or ask an administrator to resend the invitation.
Provision Windows or macOS
- Install the Windows or macOS application from the link above or from the invitation email.
- Open the application once so the operating system registers its setup link.
- In the invitation email, select Set up my desktop softphone.
- Allow the browser to open SessionCloud Softphone.
- Confirm the member’s name and extension in the app.
The automatic setup link is single-use and expires after three days. The email address and provisioning password remain the fallback sign-in method.
Sign in manually
If automatic setup is not available:
- Open SessionCloud Softphone.
- Choose the SessionCloud or provisioning sign-in option.
- Enter the exact email address from the invitation.
- Enter the provisioning password.
- Complete sign-in and allow the required device permissions.
Do not choose manual SIP account setup for an ordinary SessionPBX invitation. That screen expects low-level SIP credentials rather than the SessionCloud provisioning login.
Use more than one device
A member may register several supported devices. Incoming calls ring the member’s registered devices, and the first device to answer takes the call. Presence, messages and call history are shared across the member’s devices.
Moving an active call between devices is not currently a one-tap workflow. Use the call-transfer controls available in your app and service when you need to send a call to another destination.
Test the installation
After provisioning, perform these checks:
- Call another internal extension.
- Ask that person to call back while the app is in the background.
- Confirm two-way audio.
- If video is enabled, place a short video call.
- Send and receive a team message.
- If public calling is enabled, test one outbound and one inbound call.
Reprovision a device
Ask the administrator to resend the invitation if the password is lost or compromised. Resending creates a new password, so devices using the old credentials may need to be provisioned again.
For device-specific call controls and audio settings, see the Desktop Softphones and Mobile Softphones guides.
